STUDENT - Recreation Assistant

Recreation Assistants will assist in the administration of various recreation programming. Duties may include:

Recreational Facility Supervision

- Assist in the administration of recreational fitness usage

- Cleaning and maintaining equipment in fitness areas

- Directing patrons to adherence of departmental policies and procedures

- Checking patrons into facility reservations

- Other appropriate duties as assigned

Aquatic Facility Supervision (Red Cross Certification Required)

- Serve as primary lifeguard for aquatic activity

- Test and report chemical levels of the pool

- Clean necessary aquatic equipment and general facility

- Perform lifeguarding skills throughout weekly in-service trainings

Intramural Operations

- Referee intramural sporting activities

- Administer general intramural operations, including checking in participants, preparing facilities for intramural participation, and supervising intramural equipment

- Resolving conflict during intramural participation

Group Fitness Instruction

- Teach group fitness classes for the WNE population

- Program for development within the Recreation Department

- Manage risk and accessibility for equitable fitness programming

Applicants may share responsibilities between multiple programming areas.

- Applicants must be current WNE students

- Federal Work Study allocation is preferred

- Knowledge of general fitness facility environment

- Knowledge of organized team sports is preferred for Intramural Operations

- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required for Aquatic Supervision
